On 31 August, 2012, H.E. Mr. Yang Houlan, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, meets with Dr. Nyima Dorje Lama, Chairperson of Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee, Ministry of Local Development, Government of Nepal. Mr. Karna Bahadur Ghale, Executieve Director of the Commitee and other main members also attend the meeting. The two sides cordially exchange ideas on the development of Buddhism in Nepal and China-Nepal exchanges in Buddhism, etc.

Dr. Nyima Dorje Lama briefs Yang about the development of Buddhism in Nepal and says that the Government of Nepal firmly sticks to One China Policy, and it's also consensus of all the Buddhists in Nepal. Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee would like to establish contact and strengthen exchanges with Chinese Buddhist organizations, learn the experience of monasteries management from China, and further expand Nepal-China relations through Buddhist exchanges.

Yang says that China-Nepal Buddhist exchanges has a long history. Fa Xian, Hsuan Tsang and other Chinese master monks have been to Nepal and promoted the Buddhist culture exchange between the two countries. In recent years, more and more Chinese tourists have visited Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha. Chinese Buddhist Association also built its first overseas monastery in Lumbini-Chinese Monastery. The friendly exchanges in Buddhism between the two countries will play a positive role in promoting mutual friendship and understanding.
