H.E. Ambassador Yang Houlan's Speech at the Inauguration Ceremony of Nepal-China Friendship Week
2012-12-01 21:40

Rt. Hon. Mr. Parmananda Jha, Vice President of Nepal,

Ladies and gentlemen, Dear friends,

Good Afternoon!

It gives me great pleasure to inaugurate Nepal-China Friendship Week with Rt. Hon. Vice President Mr. Jha and all the distinguished guests. On behalf of Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Nepal, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the distinguished guests here and the organizer of the program.

China and Nepal are both ancient civilizations. Our friendship can be traced back into histories and has solid foundations. During Premier Wen Jiabao’s successful visit to Nepal at the beginning of this year, the leaders of our two countries declared the year 2012 as China-Nepal Friendship Exchange Year. Friendly exchanges of two sides in various fields have shown an unprecedented trend of development. Nepal-China Friendship Week 2012 organized by World Culture Net and co-organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is a new highlight of our friendly exchange craze.

Dear friends,

The 18th National Congress of CPC concluded successfully last month, which has made an overall planning of the future development of China. New goals have been set that China will double its 2010 GDP and per capita income for both urban and rural residents in 2020. China will therefore enter a moderately prosperous society in all respects. To realize the goals, China will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development, promote reform and open policy and devote all our efforts to a win-win cooperation with countries all over the world. China will bring more cooperation opportunities to the world by its progress and development. We will continue to promote friendship and partnership with our neighbors, consolidate friendly relations and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with them, and ensure that China's development will bring more benefits to our neighbors.

Nepal is an important neighbor of China. We are linked by mountains and rivers, and share wide common interests. Chinese government always cherishes the traditional friendship between China and Nepal, and attaches great importance on China-Nepal Comprehensive Partnership of Cooperation. Since long time ago, two countries always understand each other, support each other and trust each other. The overall, deep and multi-level friendly relation between our two countries has made an unceasing progress. Friendly relationship between us can be regarded as a model in international relations between countries with different sizes. I believe that the rapid development of China will bring more opportunities for China-Nepal mutual beneficial cooperation.

Dear friends, time is progressive and situation is changing, China-Nepal relation will keep pace with time. Let’s join hands to create a better tomorrow for the peace and development of our two countries, and the common interests of our two peoples.

Wish Nepal-China Friendship Week a complete success!

Thank you all.
