Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan's Response To The Question On Iranian Statement Of Resuming Nuclear Conversion Activities
2005-08-03 00:00

Q: It is reported that Iran had required the European Union to forward a package plan before August 1st on solving the Iranian nuclear issue, otherwise, Iran would resume uranium conversion activities. On the same day, Iran delivered a note to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and required the IAEA to open the seals of its nuclear conversion facilities and to offer safeguards on its resuming nuclear activities at an earliest date. What's your comment on this?

A: China supported the negotiation between EU and Iran for a long-term solution for the Iranian nuclear issue. The achieved outcome is hard-earned. We hope the two sides will abide by the Paris Agreement and the resolutions of the IAEA Council, remain patient and maintain the negotiation process. China supports a proper solution of the Iranian nuclear issue as early as possible through diplomatic efforts under the IAEA framework.
